In my opinion, that little bit of cold start may lead to a bit better gas mileage across the fleet. And that trend is going lighter; Toyota has moved to 0W16 and has plans for 0W8. I just got my first oil change and when I was asked which oil I wanted in it I specified 5W-20, but when I read the paperwork afterward it says they put in 0W-20. Clearly this is not what I wanted nor what all of the paperwork I have (including the number right on the oil cap which is 5W-20) specified. WebAug 16, 2024 · Plus with 5w-30 you do not have to use synthetic which is all that is available in 0w-20. The 5w-30 has been in the car for about 20k miles.
