Remove the engine cover, a belt will be on one end of the engine, usually under a plastic cover, but always away from the oil. A chain is buried inside the block as it needs an oil supply. WebFeb 7, 2016 · There is one form the crank to the HP fuel pump (internal, wet) and one from the pump to the cam, which is external. The parts alone to to the whole job (no waterpump change necessary on the 1.8) come to about £400 or so and it's an 8 hour job in Ford's book. Don't let them tell you it's a chain - it almost certainly isn't.
